Purpose of the role
To deliver commercially pragmatic legal advice and support to loveholidays in achieving its business objectives whilst minimising risk. Play a key role in supporting strategic matters aligned to the Company’s 2025 Strategy with a particular focus on privacy matters and commercial/IT contracts.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Privacy
Build on and manage loveholidays’ data protection governance and compliance efforts - you will be the subject matter expert on data protection in the UK & Ireland
Take the lead on managing day-to-day compliance matters across the business as well as monitoring and improving our governance and compliance frameworks, policies and processes
Act as the primary point of contact for staff and regulators in relation to data protection issues
Ensure the Company’s policies (such as the privacy policy and cookie policy), practices and procedures comply with the GDPR and relevant codes of practice
Inform and advise across the business on data protection risks and compliance requirements.
Work with internal stakeholders to review new initiatives to advise on risks and compliance requirements, including DPIAs where needed
Provide support and assistance to the team managing rights requests
Review and assist with security incident reports and maintain the data breach register
Assist with diligence on new third parties where personal data is involved, reviewing data protection clauses in agreements and advising on any data transfer requirements
Promote a culture of data protection compliance across the business
Deliver training to staff members involved in data handling or processing
Maintain records of data processing activities carried out by the company
Monitor changes to data protection laws and regulator guidance, inform the business as needed and make recommendations when appropriate.
- Commercial/IT contracts
Drafting/reviewing/negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts including with technology and services providers, outsourced customer services providers, hotel and transfer providers, merchant acquirers and virtual credit card providers
Developing contract templates and processes to accelerate the contracting process
- Legal team procedures/efficiency
Creating FAQs, guidance notes to enable self-service of routine queries
About You
Qualified UK solicitor with 5-6 years PQE in privacy matters and commercial/IT contracts
Expertise in UK and EU data protection law and practice including an in-depth understanding of the GDPR and experience advising on and implementing UK and EU data protection law requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to articulate complex information to someone with no prior knowledge of the issue
Strong organisational and project management skills with an ability to prioritise, multi-task and work to deadlines
Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Proactive, meticulous and enthusiastic approach with strong attention to detail
Natural confidence and inquisitiveness - able to get to the bottom of an issue
Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information
Understanding of and/or background in the travel industry a distinct advantage but not essential
